Last night for each section completed kids received stickers to serve as chicken pox which they could place on the leader of their choice. What a sporting bunch of leaders we have!

AWANA launched last night with 70 kids in attendance thanks to the help of almost 30 volunteers!

The finishing touches are being made to our new space. A big thank you to all of those who have given of their time and talents to paint, run wire and cabling, install the projector, and various other tasks in order to make this renovation a success.

We’re still looking for folks who would be glad to serve on Sunday mornings.

• Preschool
  • We are currently looking for volunteers who would like to serve at either the 9:15am or 10:45am hour every other week.
  • By having volunteers cover every other week we ensure:
    • The children have consistency in the classroom and recognize the faces of those teaching them
    • Our volunteers are still able to participate in 3/4ths of their usual Sunday morning (i.e. Worship both weeks, BLG one out of every two)
• Children’s Worship
  • We are currently looking for volunteers who would like to lead a small group at 10:45am one Sunday a month.
  • Small groups include:
    • Drama – short reenactment of the morning’s story
    • Quiz – create a review quiz over the morning’s story
    • Craft – creates a craft to reinforce the lesson
    • Song – learns a song that relates to the morning’s theme
    • Very Important Prayer Person – learns about a person in our church, missionary, or denominational worker and then writes them notes of encouragement and prays for them
    • Key Verse – engages in an activity to reinforce the key verse of the lesson

Lord willing, January 11^th, the remodel will be completed and we’ll be celebrating our new Children’s Worship space in Building A. In the meantime, we’ll be shifting Children’s Worship to Building C.

December 18^th, January 1^st, and January 8^th our 3^rd through 5^th graders will be meeting in C-6 at 10:45am instead of Building A. It’s our prayer you’ll encourage your family to patiently endure the slight change of location and inconvenience while we eagerly await what God will do with a little bit of dust.

Building is hard. Our kids were tasked with building a shoe rack out of 4 wire coat hangers, 50 sheets of copy paper, 10 sheets of construction paper, 30 toothpicks, and a roll of tape. Our winners’ rack was able to hold 5 shoes.

In 2 Samuel 7, King David wanted to build God a house, a temple. But God had a different kind of house in mind, the Church. So God promised to build David a house instead. God promised that out of David’s lineage would come one who would rule forever and that this king would build a house for God’s name. This month we celebrate the fulfillment of that promise, the coming of King Jesus, the son of Abraham, the son of David, the Son of God.

Although we aren’t the ideal material to work with, God is building His Church, His house, right here at Hays Hills Baptist Church. We sure are thankful this Christmas that, “Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are His house if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.” Hebrews 3:6

We’re going to have an AWANA training seminar on December 11^th led by the regional AWANA missionaries Doug & Ellen Rolando. Immediately following the second service we will have a pizza & salad lunch in the fellowship hall while Doug & Ellen begin walking us through the AWANA program, highlighting ways to manage the students and maintain their focus, encourage the children in scripture memorization, and promote child safety. I’ve asked the Rolando’s to condense the material so that our meeting will last from 12:30pm to 4:15pm, including lunch.

Currently it appears we will need the following personnel to staff our club:

1 Sparks Director – responsible for overseeing Kindergarten through 2^nd grade

1 Truth & Training Director – responsible for overseeing 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th grade

1 Game Director – responsible for running the AWANA games

1 Sparks Leaders – responsible for helping Kindergarten through 2^nd grade with their workbooks

3 Truth & Training Leaders – responsible for helping 3^rd through 5^th grade with their workbooks
